We previously shared this podcast with our readers in October 2024. As the information is still relevant, we wanted to reshare for any new readers and for those who didn’t get a chance to check it out last year.
Over the past month, Oregon Public Broadcasting has been featuring the story of Jesse Lee Johnson in the new investigative podcast Hush. Johnson, a Salem man who was convicted of murder, spent 17 years on death row. In 2023, Jesse was acquitted of the charges and released. Check out the podcast where journalists Leah Sottile and Ryan Haas dive into his story to try and find out why the state tried so hard to have him killed.
