OADP Board of Directors

Aba Gayle
Besides serving on OADP's Board, she is also on the Board of Directors for Murder Victim Families for Human Rights, an international death penalty abolition group. Aba Gayle is one of the main speakers for OADP and is also called on to speak nationally and around the world.

Mark Baker
Mark is a principal with Hoots, Baker and Wiley, Certified Public Accountants. He is the OADP Board Treasurer. Mark also serves on several other non-profit boards in Salem-Keizer area.

Jeff Ellis
Considered one of the top death penalty defense lawyers in the country, Jeff is Director of Oregon Capital Resource Center, which provides assistance to Oregon lawyers dealing with aggravated murder cases. He has extensive experience in similar roles in Washington state and Texas.

Steve Ickes
His resume includes executive level position in the departments of corrections in Wisconsin, Arizona and Oregon. He was also County Administrator in Lane County. Oregon. Most of his work corrections work dealt with programs and budgeting.

Tom O'Connor
Tom spent over 10 years with the Oregon Department of Corrections, first as Director of Religious Services and then in the Research Department. He currently teaches in the Criminal Justice Department of Western Oregon University and owns the consulting firm of Transforming Corrections.

Terrie Rodello
For twenty years, Terrie has been a member/leader with Amnesty International USA (AIUSA). An Information Technology professional, she is currently an active member of Group 48, and serves as the AIUSA Oregon Death Penalty Abolition Coordinator.

Janvier Slick
Jan has retired from a 30-year career in child welfare. She began debriefing juries after difficult, traumatic trials in the mid-90s. This includes 5 death penalty cases. From this she learned how jurors are affected by their service and are unrecognized victims of the death penalty.

Ron Steiner
After a career in marketing, Ron retired into a volunteer career of community service. Prior to moving to Oregon, he was on the Steering Committee of the New Mexico Coalition to Repeal the Death Penalty. New Mexico repealed their death penalty on March 18, 2009.

Frank Thompson
A thirty-five year veteran of the military, law enforcement and corrections, Frank came to Oregon in 1994 as Superintendent of the Oregon State Penitentiary. He had the unenviable task of supervising the only two Oregon executions in the past 50 years.
